I am a web development intern in my 20s and am currently getting practical knowledge in coding websites and web apps. I mainly focus on front-end development, writing HTML, CSS and JavaScript to design both responsive and user-friendly interfaces, using React and similar tools. I’m slowly picking up back-end parts of development like Node.js and how to operate on databases with MongoDB and MySQL.
The majority of my work is made up of coding, launching features and teamwork with the development group. Most of the time, I deal with small matters such as removing bugs, polishing performance or following design suggestions from the UI/UX team. The environment here is very good for learning, and I have been motivated to ask questions and learn about different steps in development.
They first activity I worked on was refreshing the mobile version of the company’s website. I worked together with a senior developer who taught me how to create repeatable components. With the help of that project, I realised why clean code and the use of Git are valuable.
Part of my job is to document the features I develop, which has helped my skills in describing technical things. Sometimes, I go with my mentor to client meetings to notice how the client’s requirements are transformed into tasks that software engineers can perform. This is how I am linking what I learn in books to what I can do in practice.
Being new in my profession, I always try to remain consistent and stay curious. Everything I discover, I add to a log, and I use my free time on personal programs for more practice. I have been messing around with APIs and studying how to bring in up-to-date data on a website. I am always thrilled to notice that short snippets of code can make your ideas take form and become visible.
Also, I love to read and write about the latest trends and technology in this field. I feel glad that I got this platform to express my thoughts and share my information with the rest!
