Suhani Sharma
I am an IT support employee in a mid-sized logistics company, and I spend most of my day assisting people in overcoming problems related to technology. Even though the job isn’t exciting, it’s crucial to protect the systems, help users on time and prevent problems from getting bigger. Generally, I look for any errors that occurred during the night and any tickets that have reached the top priority. At times, it’s due to a lost password and at other times, problems with the network or internal software. I cooperate with a couple of team members, and we delegate responsibilities depending on their importance. Most of the time, I handle issues on the machine and the OS, addressing printer troubles, delays and updates to the system. I also look after part of the company’s helpdesk system, where team members file technical reports. Some problems may seem repetitive, but each situation is a bit different. I keep working on solving problems because I want to find the main reason for a glitch and prevent it from happening again. I note the usual problems and their solution, which improve our response time in the future. In addition, I’m able to write scripts in both PowerShell and Python to make it faster and easier to run these system procedures. During the past year, I have improved my skills in working with people who are frustrated that their work is not progressing due to technological problems. I listen first and do not guess the problem until I check it personally. Following these steps, grade 9 has taught me to be reliable and more available to other teams in the company. I didn’t plan on having a career in IT at first. I started my studies in commerce and switched after doing a quick hardware and networking course. I became interested in this field because it involved practical tasks and was constantly developing. These days, I am looking into earning a certification in cybersecurity to develop more. What I like most about my job is that I get to see immediate results. If I fix a server or solve a login issue, someone’s back to work in minutes. It’s a very grounded feeling, knowing you’re helping things run behind the scenes. Outside of work, I spend time learning through YouTube tutorials and IT forums. I recently started experimenting with building my home server just to understand how things work beyond the office setup. It’s a constant cycle of learning and applying. Also, I love diving into and discussing the latest tech topics. This platform feels perfect for sharing my thoughts and spreading information! I may not be building software or working on futuristic AI projects, but I’m proud of the role I play. Keeping systems stable, users supported, and workflows uninterrupted is no small task. I’m here to grow at my own pace, keep learning, and eventually move into more specialised roles in system administration or security. #ITSupport #TechSupport #ITProfessional #LogisticsTech #ProblemSolving #CybersecurityJourney #TechCareer #SystemAdministration #HelpDeskHeroes #TechTutorials #ITSkills #PowerShellScripting
