Ritika Joshi

I am in my third year of computer science, and I have learned Android app development for more than a year. A university mini-project turned out to be something I am genuinely interested in doing. The majority of my projects are made using Kotlin and Android Studio, and stepping out of my comfort zone is making me feel better at what I do. It took me a while to catch on to activities, fragments, and layouts, but after I understood how one screen links up with the next, everything became easier. The budget tracker was the first app I decided to make. I didn’t get a lot of features, but it taught me to handle different inputs, save data with Room Database, and follow the pattern of MVVM architecture. I learn most things related to Android by watching tutorials, checking the official Android documentation, and trying them out myself. I have joined some online courses offered by various reputed institutions, too. They assisted me in understanding better how backend communication with Firebase is done. At present, I’m making a college event app for an inter-college festival. Features are event listings, registration, and the use of Firebase Cloud Messaging for sending push notifications. I am working on the UI/UX on my own, too, which has shown me how critical it is to look at things through the eyes of users. Just placing buttons in a specific location can affect the user’s experience with the app. Since assignments and exams are never-ending for me, everyday life is never easy. But I make it a point to dedicate a few hours each week to developing or improving apps. I also make an effort to record the things I learn. I maintain a logbook in which I record issues and mistakes I’ve had while coding and how I solved them. I have formed a habit of solving any issues that arise thanks to this platform. Apart from development, I’m exploring how to publish apps to the Play Store, handle feedback, and update apps after release. I haven’t published anything officially yet, but it’s something I’m planning to do once the college fest app is fully tested. My long-term goal is to work as a mobile app developer, possibly in a product-based company where I can contribute to apps that solve real problems. I’m also curious about Flutter and cross-platform development, but I want to get my Android fundamentals solid first. Also, reading and writing about technology trends excites me. I’m grateful for this space to voice my thoughts and share my insights! For now, I’m enjoying the process—writing code, testing features, fixing bugs, and seeing an idea come to life on a phone screen. It’s satisfying to build something you can use and improve with every version. I still have a lot to learn, but every project makes me a bit more confident in my journey. #AndroidDevelopment #Kotlin #AndroidStudio #MobileAppDev #AppDevelopment #UIUXDesign #Firebase #RoomDatabase #MVVM #CodingJourney #ComputerScience #TechStudent #CollegeProjects #FlutterCurious #AppPublishing
