I am a PHP Intern, and it really thrills me to be on a voyage where there is an intersection of logic, code and creativity. I spend every day working on backend script writing, data flow, and functionality that drives the real web applications in the world.
I got interested in PHP because of a very simple question: how exactly do websites work behind the scenes? That interest quickly turned into a more serious affection with backend development- how requests are received, data manipulated and responses sent dynamically through languages such as PHP and utilities such as MySQL.
Currently, I am working on getting a command of the basics of PHP. These include variables, control structures, arrays, functions, and object-oriented programming. I am studying to become able to write the code that interacts with databases, and I am used to working with modules containing code snippets for inserting, retrieving, and updating data. It is thrilling to note how these articles create the spine of active sites.
I have been getting some practical experience of CRUD operations and form validation, and prepared statements, which are key skills as they form the basis of building secure and interactive applications. I also get to know how to write clean code, maintainable code, and adhere to best practices that would result in long-term scalability.
The field of security has been an eye-opener to me. I am now training on how to sanitise user inputs and avoid vulnerabilities such as SQL injections and CSRF attacks.
It has not been a bug-free, logic-free, and sleepless-problem-solving-free road, but each challenge makes me more competent. I will learn about PHP frameworks, such as Laravel, in the next few months, learn about MVC architecture, and begin API construction.
I like to discover and write on the new technological trends. I am excited to use this platform to express my knowledge and meet new people!
In the long run, I hope to have a solid portfolio of PHP projects under my belt and become a full-stack PHP developer who is not afraid to touch either the frontend or the backend.
